POKHARA BASE CAMP -A unique feature of Himalayan Encounters' trekking and rafting in the Annapurna region is our one-of-a-kind Base Camp at Pokhara’s lakeside. It is single-story, stone and mud built and it’s rather like a laid-back country club.
Set 300 metres back from the lake and with a back-drop of Machhapuchare rising beyond, it is here where every trip is prepared in detail and from where rafting trips on the Kali Gandaki and Seti and the various treks in the Annapurnas set out and to here that they return for trip-end celebrations. Our selected Pokhara Hotels are close by.
In this atmosphere and in the quiet, spacious, sunny gardens you can relax – surrounded by many typical Himalayan flowers, shrubs and trees and by the birds, beetles, butterflies and dragon flies that live amongst them.
Here, in the tranquillity and peace of the Annapurnas, is living proof of an alternative reality which you may not be able to adopt permanently but in which it is so utterly wonderful to linger.
Here too is a traditional Nepali kitchen with classic high-pitched thatched roof and carved windows and doors. It’s a kitchen that prides itself in producing wholesome food – none fresher. Here we cater primarily for groups and focus on breakfast and dinner.
These facilities are costed in as part of Annapurna Trekking and Rafting activities.
